It seems so long ago since I started my blog. And I was just thinking what if I was just starting a blog in 2019, what tips would I give myself? I know there are some people out there who would like to start a blog and I think it is still a good idea to start one. Yes it might seem that everyone has one but everyone also has something to offer. Here are some of my tips for starting a blog in 2019.
Build Up Social Media
Social Media and blogging go hand in hand. One thing I wish I would have done before starting my blog was build up a social media presence. This can be on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, whatever platform. Building that community and audience will help you in the long run when it comes to driving traffic to your site. People need to get to know who you are and then they will feel more inclined to checking your blog out. My suggestion would be to really be active on social media a month or more before launching your blog.
When you look on social media and the internet you see a lot of people try to be something they’re not. When you are not being your genuine self you have to always put on mask for your audience and that will get old fast. As a new blogger you will find yourself comparing yourself to other bloggers and feel like you have to show this perfect life with these perfect pictures, but you don’t. Be Authentically You!!! That’s what are audience will gravitate to. No one’s life is perfect. Be vulnerable, show who you are, be yourself, and your audience will support you 100%.
With there being so many blogs, you have to make sure you are putting out quality content. If you are putting out one amazing post a week, that will serve you better than putting out 5 ok but dull post a week. Make content that is valuable to your readers, content that will make them want read your post. If you continually put out this type of content you will build trust with your audience, and they will know that when you do put out posts it’s worth reading.
Practice Makes Perfect
Whether it’s blog pictures, writing post, or website design; the more you do it the better you will get. Think about any time you ever did something for the first time, it was probably horrible, like me learning how to drive; then the more I did it the better I got at it. You will grow through out your blogging journey. Your pictures don’t have to be perfect, you will learn as you go. You don’t need to spend money on fancy equipment either. Start with what you have first and add things as you grow. When you look back at your old post you will be amazed at your growth. Just to show you an example these are my blog pictures 3 years ago compares t now.
At the end of the day if this is something that you are thinking about doing or have a passion for, just start. It look me 3 months to debate if I even wanted to start a blog and I am so happy I did. There will be moments when you doubt yourself and want to give up but don’t, push through it. Never doubt your capabilities. What you can do is limitless!!
Happy New Year everyone!!! 2019 is here!! Like every year I wanted to come and share with you guys my 2019 goals. One thing I have never done is make a vision board. I’ve heard a lot about them but never decided to make one. So after some research I decided to make one for 2019 and so should you. Vision boards are basically visualization tools to help you reach your goals. Sometimes just writing your goals down isn’t enough, you have to picture them. Our minds respond strongly to visual stimulation. So instead of saying you want abs , find a picture of someone with your goal body and work hard to get to there. Vision Boards will help you focus on that goal.
Creating Your Vision Board
Decide what you want on your vision board
When it comes to what you are putting on your vision board you should start out with your goals for the new year and your theme for that year. What are somethings you would like to accomplish in 2019. For me when I think about goals I want to set I think about different aspects of my life. What are my goals mentally, physically, financially? Where are some places I want to go, What are some things I want to do? What are some things I want to buy? What do I want more or less of in my life?
After you have figured out those things next you need to find images that correlate with those goals. I personally would recommend Pinterest than google to find your images because normally Pinterest images are a little more aesthetically pleasing but it is up to you where you find your images. You can do magazine cut outs, take pictures of your own, it’s up to you.
Mantras and Keywords
So now that you have the images that represent your goals I like to add quotes, mantras, and keywords that are important to me for the new year, things I want to remind myself through out the year. Also I added number goals so say you want to save $10,000 dollars this year put that on your board as well.
Make it your own
Once your done with the all the technical stuff you should make your vision board you. Give it some personality. If you like flowers add flowers, it you like polka dots add those. For mines I added streaks of paint because I like to paint and I like the look of it. Also I picked a color scheme (Pink of course). I made sure the images I picked have pink accents and my lettering is also pink.
Where To Put It
Once you are done with your vision board, you need to put it somewhere that you will see it throughout the year. It can be on the back of your door, in a picture frame, posted it on your wall whatever space works for you. I personally did my vision board digitally. I made it in Photoshop and set it as my screen saver. For me my computer is something that I use everyday and know that I will see my board everyday, plus it saves on paper which is one of my goals to declutter the paper I have and stop collecting more of it. If you want to make a digital vision like I did the size for that is 1920 x 1080 pixels. And you can use Canva if you don’t have Photoshop.
And that’s it now you have your vision board it’s time to get to work on those goals!!
